The Olympic Village is located at the south end of False Creek – named for the housing it provided for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. At the close of the games, the Olympic village was left largely uninhabited. It became a temporary ghost town. Today it is and established, dynamic community and one of the greenest in the world. The area is still under development with a projected completion in 2020. All new buildings in the Village are certified LEED (Leadership Energy Environmental Design) by the City of Vancouver. The community is now full of cafes, restaurants, businesses, micro breweries and the LEED Platinum community center. During the day residents and visitors enjoy the open plaza home to “The Birds” statues by artist Myfanwy MacLeod or walks to Canoe Bridge and onto nearby parks along Vancouver’s famous Seawall that connects to Kitsilano, Stanley Park and on to Coal Harbour.

There are no single detached houses in this area yet there is a wide variety of both condos and townhouses. All the condos and townhouses are concrete in structure and operate on their own unique energy efficient system. The heat and hot water is captured from the neighbourhood’s main sanitary line while the storm water management & green roof design allow the structures to capture natural rain water for re-use with minimal waste. The streets have been designed for pedestrians and bicycles first which is easily seen while walking the neighbourhood. Another fantastic amenity is the False Creek Ferries at the foot of the Plaza that connect all destinations along False Creek.
